Be neighbourwise and use your eyes ................
Watch schemes and your local police work together to reduce crime in the community. Neighbours, businesses and staff in pubs and hospitals can come together to be the ‘eyes and ears' of their community, report anything they think may be suspicious and follow crime reduction advice. If you are a member of a Watch scheme, you all agree that you want each other to be vigilant as far as crime is concerned. If you have the phone number of your neighbour and you ring him at work to check that a removal firm should be clearing his house, who wouldn't be grateful? If your business operates 24 hours and you see a neighbouring business that doesn't having computer equipment removed at 3am you'd be suspicious and report to the police. By being a good neighbour, and keeping an eye out for anything suspicious you can help to make your community more secure. Watch schemes meet regularly to share best practice and are updated regularly on local crime via email, phone and newsletters. There are many successful schemes run in Stockport and they are a good way to reduce crime and fear of crime in your community. Currently there are Watch schemes as follows:
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
BUSINESS WATCH
PUB & CLUB WATCH
HOSPITAL WATCH
PARK WATCH
Neighbourhood Watch Bulletins
