The Drug Action Team (DAT) is part of the Safer Stockport Partnership. The DAT is responsible for the development of the local drug strategy. The local drugs strategy feeds into the national drugs strategy to tackle the range of social conditions linked to drug misuse. The four strands of work within the Drug Strategy are:

  • reducing the supply of illegal drugs;
  • preventing young people from becoming drug misusers;
  • reducing drug-related crime; and
  • reducing the use of drugs through increased participation in treatment programmes.

The Drug Action Team takes strategic decisions on expenditure and service delivery within the four aims of the National Drugs Strategy; treatment, young people, communities and supply. The DAT's work involves:

  • Commissioning services, including supporting structures.
  • Monitoring and reporting on performance.
  • Communicating plans, activities and performance to stakeholders and the public.
