The Community Safety Unit works to support the Safer Stockport Partnership and make sure its decisions take effect, by co-ordinating initiatives designed to reduce crime in the borough. The Unit is made up of employees of Stockport Council and the Police, and includes the Drug Action Team and Anti-Social Behaviour Action Team.
The Unit helps to develop policy and strategy and ensures actions are implemented, to achieve our targets. This work includes public and partner consultation, information gathering and analysis, and proposing local responses to new legislation and other national initiatives. The Unit also manages the funding made available for tackling drugs and crime by central Government, which is used for a broad range of projects in Stockport .
The Anti-Social Behaviour Action Team works with Police, communities and other public services to investigate and co-ordinate a range of action, including Acceptable Behaviour Contracts and Anti-social Behaviour Orders.
