The role of the Community and Race Relations Officer (CARRO) role is to create and develop links with outside agencies to encourage the reporting of what is known as hate crime and having done this, support victims of such incidents on a multi agency basis. Whilst he is employed by the police he is not a police officer. His role being to monitor Race Hate incidents, and Racist / Homophobic activity in Stockport . The role also advises liaising with community groups and agencies in Stockport on race issues.

Hate Crime is defined as: -

Any criminal offence committed against the person or property that is motivated by the offender's hate against people because of their:

  Sex, Race, Religion, Disability or Sexual Orientation.
